Marijuana fields can often be seen all around the 40km2 in the Rif Mountains northern Morocco. These are surprising huge plantations that can be seen while on the mountains. You do have to do some serious hiking to be able to see them as they are deep inside the mountains.
What is interesting about the picture above is that you can see a family playing in the river, so marijuana fields make part of a Sunday afternoon pic-nic landscape, a normal family environment for local people.
There’s an ancient law that gave permissions to this specific region in Morocco to produce marijuana. The present King can’t end with ancient laws set out by other older kings. These Marijuana crops are usually harvested during Summer and while on the region, the cannabis smell can be felt miles away. The smell is intense.
After the harvest, people pass to the next conservation step which is to be let down to dry open sky.

cannabis cultivation in Morocco in real issue, but it a bothering issue for those who wants to satisfy europe leaders. please poor people understand their lives more than other do. leave people earn a slice of bread to eat. personally those seeking to put an end to production of cannabis would try stubbornly to produce it if they live in a miserable situation.

when you come to struggling familys it is hard to do your every day things when youve got no money life is just hard.
people start coltavating weed just so they can get the money they need to put there kids into an education, or put food on the table for another night to get by
life wouldnt be to bad if there was a goverment that understod marajana

The ganja mon cometh. Anyone who thinks weed is a public health concern has bought the hype that the media, gov’t, and special interest groups like Alchohol and tobacco companies have been pushing. Marijuana is a naturally occuring herb that has proven medical benefits and has been utilized in the production of cloth and medicines for thousands of years. A few decades of corruption and propaganda will not erase that truth. When are we going to stop lying to ourselves about the real harms we’ve created, like Prozac and Zanex, and start living the dream?

well.. I’m from Rif north morocco – exactly ktama – .. I don’t agree with my people who cultuvate cannabis, because it is prohibited by our religion, and because it is dangerouse for smokers and even local people…

but let me ask you, why europen countries – especially spain and france – encourage it and spreading it in morocco while the westers were colonizing africa ??

I think its wicked that weed can be grown organically in these mountains, all we get here is shitty hydro that just mashes your mind and makes you lazy, aggressive and braindead. We need more of that organic bush weed to be shipped over here

I’ve tried very hard over the last few years to open people up to cannabis . But when you have 16 year old kids talking about hydro and how they smoke it all the time it’s easy to turn your mind in the other direction. Their are several legitimate uses for in the states and abroad but when you have young potheads doing it for a rush it makes it harder for people who need it. I started having uncontrolled seizures a few years ago and no doctor has been able to tell me why. All seizure medicine makes it worse and less predictable for me(although several people I’ve met have had some success). I then noticed with a friend one night that I rarely had a seizure when smoking. I quit and had a seizure a couple of days later . I talked it over with a few other epileptics who have had similar results. If you want to support it that’s fine but use a little larger vocabulary and maybe think twice before you type something ignorant that hurts people who have success with it. Always remember , any drug can be abused , any drug.
