Hello Joao,
I would like to congratulate you for the very interesting information and fascinating pictures you have been publishing in your blog and VT Website.
I just moved back to Morocco after spending several years in the US. And I get a cross your website while I was searching for some information on South Morocco (Marakech/Merzouga/Zagoura). I am currently organizing a 10 days trip to south of Morocco for some of my friends from the US.
Good Luck for all your future Adventures

Hi Joao,
Happy New Year!
Now, this is a bit long story, but here goes. I’ve never been to Portugal, but in July last year I came across the work of your fellowcountryman, Victor Gama, who’s got a connection with Sintra (or so his profile says). I went to look for photos, and found your album at Virtual Tourist. The photo of a fountain that opens the Sintra album (the one in sombre gamme) made a profound impression on me, and in October I finally put my impression into verses (I am a writer and poet).
A bit of a disappointment, I guess – I’m Russian, so the poem is in Russian, too. I didn’t realise you had a blog, so I’ve put up the photo and the poem together at my Russian blog, here – http://loscuadernos.livejournal.com/2007/01/10/. The poem was published separately before on the web.
Now, I stated your authorship, and the use is non-commercial. However, the picture is uploaded like an image from my pc. I’d like to know if you’d prefer me to upload the photo as a URL from VT website.
A huge, huge thank-you, and lots of inspiration in 2007. I noticed you’ve been to Russia, so perhaps you’ll go again and take more wonderful images?
All best,
Julia

hello João! my name is angela, im from kazakhstan, almaty, but currently im studying in Bilbao as a part of erasmus mundus exchange programme(by the way i’ve been to lisboa las month, it was soooooooooo cooooooool, i loved it, Tejo river seemed just gorgeous for me!). so , i’ve found ur article describing ur stay in almaty while i was surfing the internet in an attempt to find pics of almaty. i need to do that because i wanna create an album with pics of my home city in facebook. the reason for that is that i meet many people from all parts of the world here (most of them of course students , in a university where ‘m currently studying) and all of them have a biased image of Kz, imposed by a movie Borat (i think u’ve heard about this movie ”Kazakstan , ever wondered?” with Sasha Cohen Baron). so many people think that we live in a village, dont have electricity, dont know what is a car and internet, and ride camels =(, so i decided to make an album on my blog to let them see that my city is not like that. So what i wanted to say is that, thanks for ur article. it is so nice and warm, it was really pleasant for me to read these words about my city (however i am not a big patriot=)), and frankly speaking i’d like to live in another place), but anyway, thank u =)
