i stayed here for 4 nights back in april 2005. it was fine but the hostel is just a couple of divisions full of bunk beds. staff is ok, they are visitors that get free bed for working. at the time i was there there were 2 spanish and 1 irish girl.
bath rooms are clean and the shower is big. you can use internet for $1 dolar hour.

Unique Qualities: this hostel is well located and you can easily get to downtown. this is located on 12th street.
The Chelsea Center is the smallest and one of the oldest hostels in New York.
taken from their website:
“The Chelsea Center offers a unique hostel experience in New York. We provide a relaxed and open atmosphere for people to meet and share their experiences. Because we are small, it is easy to get to know the other guests - around the breakfast table or when you come home in the evening and relax with a cup of tea in the common-room.
Since the Chelsea Center opened in 1981, it has constantly been owner-operated. The two owners Heidi and Hanna as well as their friendly multi-lingual staff are easy approachable and open for all your questions and inquiries. We have a lot of experience in what we do and use it to make your stay in New York as pleasant and comfortable as possible.
Our shared rooms are spacious and quiet. Each bed has it’s own little night lamp so that you can read or write at night without disturbing the others. We don’t have a curfew and think you should enjoy what New York has to offer as long as you want to - but once you get back home to the hostel the people who want to sleep have the priority. A good night’s sleep is what you pay for and we do everything necessary to make sure that you get what you pay for.”

the bunk bed style rooms are small and always have lockers (bring your own lock) and has a place where you can wash your hand and teeth.
showers and toilettes are for the same building flight, usually they are clean.

well, i stayed 4 days here. This hostel has 2 different locations to work. one near central park and another a bit more down. one is jazz on the park and the other is jazz on the town hostel. this jazz on the park has 2 different buildings. the main and another one just 2 blocks away on Central Park West 106 Street.
i find this hostel a bit farway from downtown and midtown. i guess your hostel location in nyc is very important and you should take in consideration what you want to visit in town. as in this trip i made to the city i wanted to stay and see some stuff in uptown and the area of central park i choose this one to its locations.
Unique Qualities: the place is celan ans big. the bathrooms are kind if ok for youth hostels. one of the nights someone was being beeten just 3 rooms from me. for half an hours some one was being puched and kicked until i called the police. the area of this hostel is not very good altough is also not very bad hehe.
staff at the hostel are nice, at the time, all latinas girls.
you can check the internet at the main building for a couple of dollars and you have free breakfast until 10am. i payed $33 for each night.
information i took from their website on how to get there:
“Once at Columbus Circle (59th Street) Station in Manhattan transfer from the “A” train to the uptown “B” or “C” train. Exit the subway at 103rd Street and Central Park. Walk north on Central Park West to 106 Street. Turn left, the hostel is the second building from the corner. “

This hotel is located near Shota Rostaveli which is a main street here in the city. This is a nice oportunity to have a place in european standards for also the normal european price. clean, small yard with flowers on the back part ofhotel. restaurant.
I ate a quite good tomato sauce spagetti in the hotel’s restaurant. Prices in the restaurant get double the price you would pay outside the hotel, in street supermarkets.
The price for a single room is $30us.

This is a very family type bed and breakfast that exist all around Uzbekistan. For an affordable price ou can stay in a clean place good consitions and stay with a local family that will take care of you as their own.
Nice price, from $15us, maybe you can get it for less than that, its a matter of deeling the price.
The rooms are small rooms all with private bathroom and fan for cooling system.
If you need food ask in advance and suggest you'll pay for it after as if they think you want to eat for free, they will say they have no more food.

Another hotel which its owner is European. You can find proper hotels here in Mauritania when their owners are from abroad. Very clean place and staff usually are great. Fabrice the owner is very accessible and will try to help you out in all you need. In the hotel you have all the information you might need to travel in Mauritania and also how to get visas to many of other countries in Africa.
Clean bathrooms and showers, rooms are nice. Cool terrace with a view to the Numero district. Nothing outstanding but very proper bathrooms and overall conditions are very good for what I’ve seen in Mauritania and morocco also. Inside the hotel exist this somehow tasteful restaurant.
Nice atmosphere, staff is very cheerful. They love to talk.
This 2 year old hotel is run by French and a Mauritanian which makes your need as a westerner much easier due to both cultures working together. For what I got, security is very important and could be difficult that someone could get in the hotel and steel something or some of your belongings. Although like the owner Fabrice said …never too much should the attention of your belongings and you never leave your stuff alone…?
The hotel is not responsible for any stolen material and nights should be paid on advanced, no credit.
Nothing outstanding but very proper bathrooms and overall conditions are very good for what I’ve seen in Mauritania and morocco also.
Inside the hotel exists this somehow tasteful restaurant.
Bed from 1200 UM (less then 5 euros) plus 200Um for tourist tax.
Double rooms
Hot shower
Night safe parking for automobiles
Half pension and full pension available
Group prices available.
Prices

I stayed one night. Shared bathroom. It’s not a very big place but it will suit your needs.
It’s located on the Numerowat area near the Airport and close to district of people with a lot of money here in Nouadhibou. I stayed here the first night I arrived in Nouadhibou, also first time in Mauritania. We were scammed with this owner’s cousin on exchange rate from Euro money to Ouguiya. I lost about 40 Euros. My friend Hugo lost about 180 Euros. The other two Spanish guys also with us but in the other car lost each about 100 Euros. The guy told us we should exchange money with him for a specific money value. We late find out we could have gotten a higher rate, actually double of what he gave us. Bastard.
Also another thing to watch out is the guide they got us in this hotel. The guy was not a good guide. He got us lost in the desert for a few times. We had GPS, so lucky us.
Prices
You can camp inside walls but rooms are also available for 1000UM/person.

Hotel Bab Sahara was a big surprise for me and my friends. We were coming from Terjit and had some problems on the car, and also lots of police check points make your head a bit tired. This place is unique.
The owners are a couple from Holland, so they try to make something more pleasant than the normal in Mauritania never escaping the traditional of course. The hotel is very clean. It is composed by a few nomad tents spread in the campground and you also have a few small houses that you can choose from. Leisure area is great.
Prices
1500UM or 5 euros per night
Directions
On the first big roundabout turn left and go straight, pass the bridge and turn right when you see the sign BAB SAHARA

Ah, another of my favourite places to stay in Mauritania. This place is owned by a French lady. Every time the hotels are own by foreigners, better Europeans, things run better and clean.
This hotel has lots of cheap and clean rooms, and you can also choose by resting on 2 of the huge tents existing in the hotel area.
Bathrooms are very but very clean. You have a small shop inside the hotel which sells good for the normal price, not trying to cheat you like in other places.
This hotel is situated right in the city centre not far from the big main market of NKT. This hotel is also located on the rich part of the city which will add some security to you while being there and moving around. Its kind hard to find. I'll try to add email soon.
Prices
1500UM for one night on the room. Outside tent is cheaper.

I loved my stayed in this camping. It’s exactly located on the rock valley right besides the water springs. You have maybe 10 tents spread along the valley along the water pools where you can choose to sleep.
Terjit is an oasis located in the mountains. This small village is supplied by two sources of water springs, something that is a bit rare in Mauritania. The water just runs down the rock until it gets the floor and forms these amazing pools where one can delight yourself swimming and bathing while the sun is strong in the desert. The rock formation where this spring is located makes it very fresh and calm.
Natural water springs is enough, bathrooms are quite clean. If you go a bit off the path on the camping, you'll find some trash and dirty water, but that’s a bit before the camping where all that water goes after it passes the camping…
The entrance to the camping in the same to the oasis because the camping is located right in the oasis that’s why it’s so nice. As soon as you arrive there, you can see the valley starting on our right with the rock. The camping is located right on the bottom of the valley where the pools are located. You can make small trips to see the carved pre-historical drawings on the rock cliffs.
Prices
1500UM each person. 700UM if you only want to visit the oasis.
Directions
Maybe about 2 km after the village.
40km south from Atar, Adrar Region.

We got to this auberge after we went to be received by the Mayor of Tambacounda. He was the one who pointed us a few hotels and auberges to stay. This seemed to be the kind of auberge du jeunesse in town, so we decided to come here.
This was a nice place, clean bathrooms and nice rooms with fans, which are very important taking in consideration having 50 degrees during the day and maybe 45 during the night. You have also private water coolers in each room.
Prices
Double room 4500CFA +-7euros
Directions
Behind the train station. After the rail road and on the road to Niokolo Koba this place stays on the left side. When you see a phone teleboutique just ask for the auberge.

I've been going here since 2000. People are great and very friendly. You can go to the oasis 2 hours riding a camel to the dunes, or just chill out near the hostel and meet the locals. They are great. The owner of this place is Moha Noughou.
Auberge du Sud is located right on the bottom of the biggest sand dunes of the whole northwest part of Africa called "The Dunes of Erg Chebbi", having all the magic, wonderful and unique energy of the Sahara.
The Hotel has a restaurant with great Moroccan food with all the typical dishes of the region.
The rooms decorated with pure Saharian taste are indeed something to remember after.
Auberge du Sud's crew will give you thrill and adventure through out Sahara Desert and organize trips to other amazing places in Morocco. They organize programs like nights in Berber tents below the stars in the Sahara; Trips on dromedaries throughout the dunes and lost Oasis; Private groups to desert adventures; Journeys in 4WD to the South of Morocco and Desert tracks along the surroundings of Erg Chebbi Dunes and New Year parties.
Prices
Small rooms, double rooms, rooms with WC, family rooms etc, there's everything here it just depends of your money. From 3 euros to sleep on the tent for 50 euros for a luxury triple room private WC.

Françoise, your host, welcomes you to pass unbelievable holidays on her «Auberge de Charme.»Auberge de Charme - Ksar Sania» is a special Auberge located right in front of the big dune of Erg Chebbi that provides fine service with superb quality accommodations right in the dunes of Merzouga.

This Hotel settles in a little Oasis on the bottom of the big dune of Merzouga, the Grand Erg – The Erg Chebbi- Sahara. The big dune of Merzouga rises up to 150m high and it shares with visitor’s excellent energy and amazing sceneries
The French management of Françoise, created in Ksar Sania an unbelievable Auberge where an excellent “décor de bon goût” and fine quality accommodations gets comfort in Sahara to its best. Its neo-traditional decoration and chosen background music indeed makes a different ambiance from what the Sahara is use to. «Charme» and Sahara all together.

This is a low cost hotel in centre Shiraz. Private shower room but no private toilet. Somehow clean for the standard.
I paid 100.000Rials for 2 nights or 10 euros for 2 nights.
I found no tourist but local Iranian people staying here. Shared fridge for each hall of 3 rooms available with fresh drinkable water.
This is a nice opportunity to stay in a cheap place in a avenue full of not so cheap hotels. This is not very bad but you'll not be impressed by its old look. The tiny entrance will make you think the hotel is very small but as soon as you go up the stairs you have more space and lots of rooms 3 flights accessible with elevator.

I liked this place very much. Somehow very clean for the normal Guesthouse in Iran. Even the shared bathrooms were not that messy (they are not very clean either) as you could expect. Staffs were not very polite but after a while they start to smile.
This hotel is located right in Tehran's centre Emam Khomeiny Square.
The price for tourist is 60000Rials (6 euros). On the lower part of the Hotel you have a cheap restaurant self-service type.
