    Hi John,
I read your tip on the istanbul-tehran bus. I am planning to make this journey sometime later this year. Could you please provide me with one more piece of information – Are there toilets in the bus (for the 2500km journey!) ?
    thanks,

Hey there Peashanth, thank you for visiting my pages; so about the bus tehran to istanbul, no there were no toilets in the bus, BUT somehow the bus stops quite a few times. i'm one of those people that goes to toilete every 2minutes and i don't actually remember of such subject while on this trip. I do remember the bus stoped lots of times. either to eat something, drink some tea or do the prayers…

I MADE the other way round Tehran->Istanbul

when actually are you thinking on going on that bus?

Hi. We are planning a trip through the High Atlas from Marrekesh to Zagora in a 4×4 with our children. I suffer from vertigo and wonder just how scary those mountain roads are! Some look quiet narrow- room only for one vehicle? What would you suggest? We go in mid October and are really looking forward to it. Staying in Marrakesh and one night in Zagora. Is it possible to get into the desert easily from there given that we might not arrive until about 4pm.
    Thanks, love the site.

  4. Joao Leitao Says:

    hello gail lautieri,
    thank you for your comment.
well about the road from marrakech to zagora…hum.. they are very scary but not one vehicle road. you have 2 sides.
the bad areas of the high atlas on this trajectory are only about 80km after marrakech.

marrakech – ouarzazate are about 208km. the bad roads maybe around 50km in the highest parts. but i mean, they are ok, not veryyyy scary. :) maybe if you are on your first year with driving license yes, you will have a bad time, but i guess its not the case. if you suffer form vertigo, hum.. might be rough. try not to look.

while in marrakech, try this riad, as you take your children, this is a private hotel house riad that has suites with rooms for children. check it out at:

    riad marrakech

i bet you will like it.

to arrive in the desert. well i don’t really fancy zagora desert. i love merzouga desert instead.

merzouga desert is 400km from ouarzazate. you might want to consider it.

    Hello John,
I read yr travel blog and am impressed by the details. Good job !!! I need yr advises on Iran. I plan to visit Iran on the 1st week of December. I have 10 days to spend. My questions :

    1. Can you suggest me an itinerrary on where / which place is a must go. There are so many beautiful places and I’m confused. Plz advise me on budget hostels all the way as well.

    2. How much is the price of cheap food which I can buy from the street stalls such as kebab + rice, kebab + bread, buns, pizza, sandwiches, plain bread, sweet buns, yogurt, fruit juice, ice cream etc ? How much must I allocate for budget meals (BF, L, D) per day ? (I am not a heavy eater).

3.I would also like to link my travel with one of the neighbouring country. Which one is a better option and not too costly between Armenia, Ajerbaijan and Turkmenistan ? Plz advise me on the transportation as well (from Teheran).

Additional info : I’m a female muslim, travelling with a female friend and my 14 year old son. I am an experienced backpacker but on a shoestring budget, so recommendations on accomodation, food, transportation etc must be ‘the cheapest but not soooo bad’ available. We are tough people, so a lil bit of uncomfortableness is not an isuue, and we are very used to rush from one place to another :)

    Regards,

Your site is great! I am going to Andorra tomorrow with a group of people. We really want to get an Andorra Passport stamp but hear conflicting things about where and if we can get one. Can you tell me how you got yours? Thank you.

  20. João Leitão Says:

Hello Adam, thank you for your comment. I got my stamp on the Andorran border to France, and simply stop my car, went inside the little border control house and asked for a stamp. they were nice to stamp it. Easy!!! :) Good luck! why is so difficult to get a stamp? never heard about it. What did you ear? Cheers

  21. Anne Says:

    Joao-
Glad I found this blog. I am trying to find good images of passport stamps of the Czech Republic, Austria & Hungary to do a commemorative needle work of the places my daughter & her husband went on their honeymoon as a gift to them. If you or anyone else could help w/ this I’d be very grateful!
